A new pair of eyes..

Well, I just came back from Chennai.
My plane touched down on home soil at about 5.25pm local time. The feeling of getting back home has never been so liberating before.
Though I spent less than five days there, I have had the opportunity to see so many things that makes me proud of my motherland.

For the record, no, I am not the type of person who goes to another country and start comparing and complaining about the differences. I bathe and shower in cold water for most of my life and my homes has never had a water heater installed. In fact I live by the principle think globally and act locally.

One thing hard about being in Chennai was trying to be local. The only way was being able to speak the language. So I asked the Indian people in the group how to say no in tamil.
Elijah told me to say "venna".

So it works, whenever I said the word, the other locals would actually hear and tell the people that would stalk us to back off. However, it was pretty sad cos I actually researched on the word and "venna" in Chennai Tamil means useless person. I have said the word to so many people and some were not really useless, the were just in poverty and they were really old. So why the locals had asked them to back off was to save their own face. I feel so bad right now.

Lesson learned, always be prepared for the language barrier and to bear in mind the localised usage of the words. Anyway a trip will not be complete without pics. So I hope I will have the time to upload them or to at least tag myself on fb. According to isaac and andrew, we have thousands of pictures from the trip!
So be patient!
Lots of love,
Soon to be globe trekker,
Afikko.

Dreary dread..

Well, i dunno why but I have no mood to update anything but I just felt that I should update..
Anyways.. Been up to nothing much... Just working and studying hard I guess..
Past few days have been working nights... In the day I just try to repay all my sleep debt.
If its a school day I will go to school..
The routine is really killing me...

I seriously need to embark on a new adventure or i will die soon... The next vacation break would be in a couple of weeks time. 5 weeks of vacation with most of it during the fasting month. So what can I do.. Nothing..

Class chalet coming up at I forgot where.. but i know its a great place to chill out and have fun..

YOG photo shoot and assignment deployment is this saturday..Hope I get a cool assignment and hope I can lose enough weight before the photo shoot.. need to research for look thin poses.. =)
I need to lose weight before monkey gets back.. or else I cannot eat with her.. so "dun eat now so i can later mode" ACtivated.

I'll be going to India at the end of the month for 5 days for IT shite and thats the only thing I can look forward to. Other than that I have to figure out ways to paint color in this dull monotonous, non-existent life I'm having.

okok... i gtg now.. will update again soon!

instant gratification

whoa!!! its been such a long time since i updated!
last post was in 7th of june.. now its july!
omg!

well anyway, loads of things have been happening.
went to town with some of my classmates recently and its been like donkey times since i stepped foot into town. there's like so many changes!
ion orchard is now opened and i could see dolce and gabbana from the opposite side..

when to zara to look around and i realised that it was probably the first time for me to see so many singaporean gay couples shopping together. seldom get to see straight couples.
i was like wow.. dere's so many of them!!
isaac was obviously checking them out and i was telling cecelia like wah lao they are quite handsome and all.. probably girls would check them out but they're gays..

isaac had to rebutt and say there are more handsome ones..
the sale was great..
the prices was really rock bottom..
but guess wad...
i saw mats there too!! so no zara for me man...

so tomorrow will be my first day trying out the water diet.. probably haf some practice b4 the fasting month really begins..
it has been proven by scientists that water diets are useful and i can swear by it as back in the army i was averaging 10-12 litres a day thats like 24 bottles of 1.5liters mineral water a day..
and i lost alot!!

but after the army, water was always a secondary option as there's so many types of drinks to choose from.
anyway the water diet does not mean drinking water ONLY.
it means drinking before, during and after a meal so that we will feel full quicker..
drinking water also helps the liver.
this is becos if we dun drink sufficient fluids, out kidneys dun function and our liver, which is our metabolism generator has to take over the kidney's duties and that causes lesser weight loss..
but if we keep ourselves hydrated, the kidney will be activated to do their job and the liver will do their job.. every sunday, i will try post up my amount of weight loss..
and my exercise activities for the week. so keeping my fingers crossed.. let the work begin!!!

bi come back soon.. i hate it that i cant tok to u on our anniversary...
hope ur enjoying urself out there...
love you!! muacks!

Great Circle of Protection

Well, it has been quite some time since I last updated.
Was busy but yet not busy at the same time.
Wee, Bhai and Zul could vouch for that.
Hah!

Last tuesday. (02/06/09)
Had a class BBQ with W65F-kers.
They are seriously a great bunch. Had fun eating and chatting and crapping.
My favourite things to do.
The food was great but too lazy to cook. The girls were seriously hardworking..
How often do you get to see girls setting up the fire and cooking. Hahahaha..
BUT, it was freaking hot!
BBQ-ing at a condo is different from BBQ-ing at east coast where the beach is right in front of you and there are constant sea breeze.
So we went to KAP macs to chillout a bit. and i reached home like 12.30. quite early cos the bbq facilities closed at 10pm.
Well, Hope to do it again okay guys!!! =)

Wednesday.(03/06/09)
Woke up like at 5 am to pack my bag.
went out abt 6am..
met up with the zul, bhai and wee at bedok to get a bus to tanah merah.
we reached our second home and work began.
we decided to recheck the tents to make sure all serviceable for coming camps.
in the evening, we went to some villages to see the conditions at night.
We even went to the mangrove reforestation area by pong-pong(a local motorised huge sampan) to see fireflies as some schools requested to see fireflies.
Since the moon was bright we could see only only some.
Locals said that if it was a dark night with no moonlight, the trees would be filled with them. We managed to catch some and hold it in our hands. Nice to see the creations of god.

Thursday.(04/06/09)
We woke up late. woke up at 9am. went for buffet breakfast.
We then went to Mapur island by speedboat to do some snorkelling.
The corals and the lifeforms were totally beautiful. It was something that I have never seen before and I was really astounded by the beauty. Its like looking at a totally different world underneath the water.

In the afternoon we went back to our rooms and showered and all. I began not to feel well.
Like my head was throbbing and about to explode.
The guys continued work without me and they let me rest. Actually I was gone while waiting for them to shower. In the end, I woke up when it was about 4pm. went down and helped them finish up.

Then our boss treated us to durian before they went back.

At nite, after dinner, we went to play pool at the reception area and we went to swim at the swimming pool till about 1am. after that we went back to our rooms and soaked our feet in hot water.

Friday.(05/06/09)
we woke up early and we finished our work. and we had to rush to check out from our room and we took the van to tanjung pinang for the ferry back. Reached sg at 8pm and i reached home at 9 plus. I also had to work that night. Damn tiring.

So basically thats the nice things i did the past few days... other than that its all the same old thing. Okay, will update again soon.

bearish cablegram

I seriously do not know what came over me today.
I woke up and thought, "Maybe I should make my room over today."
And I did. I moved all the furniture by myself. It was so strenous I actually thought of giving up.
But I kept telling myself that since I have already started, I should finish what I aimed to achieve.

The end product was SWEET.
I liked it. My room can now be declared my retreating heaven.
All I need now is a portable air-conditioner cause the nights are seriously getting hotter.
I love the new arrangement of my room. But it certainly could use some improvements. Like lesser stuff. I'm more to the simple kind of designs. Less stuff, more space kind of guy.
Will try to throw out more things without my mom knowing of course. She would certainly be like trying to save junks. Its not in her room, that's why she doesn't care.

To the simple life.

So Contagious..

Nice song... Thanks!

So Contagious

Oh no, this couldn't be more unexpected
And I can tell I've been moving in so slow
Don't let it throw you off too far
Cause I'll be running right behind you

Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously

Oohhh, when I'm around you I'm predictable
Cause I believe in loving you at first sight
I know it's crazy but I'm hoping to..
To take a hold of you

Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously

Oh you're everything I'm wanting
Come to think of it, I'm aching
On account of my transgression..
Will you welcome this confession?

Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously

Could this be out of line? (Could this be out of line?)
To say you're the only one breaking me down like this
You're the only one I would take a shot on
Keep me hanging on so contagiously

bi.. im sorry la... tok to me pls...

cognizable overgrazing

By this post, you would have certainly realised that the titles of my post are phrases with unintelligible meanings.. well, life alike, sometimes you can never know for sure what is it you're feeling, what you're facing or what can describe your day and an okay or terrible is not good enough or justifiable to use to describe it.

I have also made a vow to abstain from using improper english in this blog so that my vocabulary do not depreciate and my mind can constantly think in english so I can better communicate with people around me especially those in my generation. Furthermore, I am already speaking my native language at home and this could be another little way of maintaining or improving my language proficiency.

I remembered when I was in service, my proficiency of the language reached an all-time low and I find my self replaying what I just said in my mind and thinking, "God, what have I become." At that point of time, I knew it was necessary for me to speak in that standard to ensure all instructions are clear and understood. No point sounding good if no one understands the intent of the message. But now, with a totally different group of people, it is essential to apply both requirements to the equation.

I am now currently at work, feeling tired and lethargic. It seems, at this point in time, smiling requires more facial muscles than frowning. Tomorrow, would be object-oriented programming and it would the first time I would be using the eclipse software for java programming. So I hope it would be great and its supposed to be better than notepad++. So yeah. But bear in mind,

" The only easy day was yesterday." - Navy Seals.

Bi, i miss you..

Energized mirrors

So yest, I decided to give school a miss and accompanied my mom and dad to Segamat, my grandmother's village in Malaysia. It was somewhat a 2 hr drive up from JB. My mom and dad wanted to help my grandmother build a house for herself. Apparently she was given a plot of land by her dad,(my great-grandfather) but it was not developed. So the village where the plot of land has been identified as a village that will provide homestay facilities for tourists in the near future. The good thing is, the plot of land is like totally in the middle of the whole village. Its like 3 houses away from the village headman. Talk about good location.

And hope you feel better nek..

So we did the necessary stuffs and we also went to the hot spring. They actually pumped the hot water into 4 swimming pools. And on weekdays, only 2 swimmng pools are filled. The water is really damn hot! But it was quite a nice feeling soaking our legs in the water. Some uncles even soaked their whole selves in it. Too bad we didn't bring spare clothes. we drove back in the evening, washed the car in JB and entered singapore around 12.30am.. It was really mentally tiring driving back. I was averaging 130-14o km/h.. Could have gone faster but I was scared I would lose control as there were curves and I had to overtake huge lorries. The "push" at high speed was even stronger. But I was glad we made it alive.

Today had to work in the morning to help out my dad and boy was I feeling damn tired. Den was activated for mobilisation at 2pm. Field packs checked and it went quite smoothly. 2 hours dere and I was cleared. So nothing that bad happened. Came home to rest for awhile. Went to out to meet my classmates. In the end the usual suspects turned up. It was like me, rusdi, joan and rafika. So we went to buy some things to eat at teh tarik at yishun and we made our way to the bottle tree park. So we sat and we ate and we talked. We talked about anything. Like the future and what we wanna do.. But I like to do that. Just sit and talk..
Maybe next time can do small bbq at east coast and thon( i dunno the spelling!) Would be really fun.

I really hope monkey's break will come soon, which is next week and its only a break from projects. Her exams are still in june. Hahahah! I really miss her and when we were at the bottle tree park just now, it reminded me of her. Like how I acted like a mat rempit on the fake bullock cart and the ribcage of the dinosaur. I really miss meeting her, pinching her cheeks and just holding her hand. Its always taken for granted when she's here but this small small things do play a big part. I hope she can make it and I seriously hope we can build a good life together.
m getting sleepy and she's like waiting for me on the fone now. I think she can sleep any moment. Hahahahah!! Okay.. Bonne Nuit!

The Ranger Creed

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.

Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.

Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be. One-hundred-percent and then some.

Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.

Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.

Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.

Rangers Lead The Way!

First post.

So im making this site live already. Thought would take longer but its been quite some time since I blogged. So figured might as well..

Anyway.. had the first UT of the semester today.
It was for Database management systems.
I had half the mind to open MySQL browser just to make sure my syntax was prim and proper.
But I didn't cause I know I wouldn't have time.
Hope I did okay. Felt that it was okay and manageable.

Thursday would be Data Communications and Networking. Been doing okay for the module.
And I plan to try and score. Need to get the grades for aussie.

Anyway got my first C in RP. It was for OOP. Kinda feeling down about it. I really must put in more effort for the lesson. Everyone in class are like so technology freaks. They speak programming like its their 2nd language. And me, I feel like I'm in the movie Babel. The jargons themselves are like bombastic.

Been communicating less with izzah.
She's been really busy nowadays since its her final year and all.
Her adopted child, the green bean.
And it got me worried when she told me she broke down in class cause she felt that she cannot do her assignment.

But I know her, she's a strong person and when I was there, I realise she could do many things that I believe I could not, alone. Like setting up a bank account, waking up early to go for class.
Hahahaha.. I seriously think she will make it. And bi, do not ever feel stupid.

"It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer." ~Albert Einstein

And we shall see how long this blog can last. Hopefully as long as us.=)
And please have ample sleep because it will help your thinking processes. Trust me.
And something I learnt from the army,

"If you do the same thing twice and its wrong, DON'T BE STUPID AND DO IT A THIRD TIME!!" - forgotten soul

Talking about army, I went for my first mob briefing last Sat.
Apparently, there will be a technical silent mob soon.
Damn it!! I just bought like more than a hundred bucks worth of stuff online just now for it.
It will be delivered to my place this Fri. Sigh.
For my loved ones I shall serve..

And most funny shit of all.

"All commanders must 100% pass IPPT okay!" - CeeOh

I was like,"WTF! How to?! so fat now! cannot even walk without sweating then now must pass.?"

Will try la hor. Nobody died from trying wad..
Ermm... okayyy...
Don't know if the phrase is workable..
Will try.
Till the next post.
Have a nice one people!

Scroll below and you will see that I have applied what I have learnt in Web Multimedia and Object-Oriented Programming.
